The feds finalized $1.2 million for the railside trail project from Lake Placid to Ray Brook, solidifying the commitment to rail AND trail development vs. some notions of having to choose either/or. And in Long Lake on Friday, ARPS and the North Country Chamber briefed Senators Schumer & Gillibrand on an opportunity to seek a commitment from the U.S. Army Railroad Battalion to come next season and provide free labor toward rehabilitating the line from Saranac Lake to Tupper Lake! The Senators are on board. And a promotional and fundraising campaign is now being organized for launch in the coming weeks to help purchase ties and materials. Next stop, Tupper Lake indeed!
