Three Peace Suit is the newest wave of classic rock to come to the north country started out like this:
Bruce Hollenbeck originally of Tupper Lake began drumming in the early 70′s, playing with many local musicians. Rock music was his passion, and when Bruce was 12 yrs old, he had to get a permission note from his parents in order to play at the local Moose Club for a New Years E.ve Party. Around 1976 Bruce met Joe Sweet (who had just moved to the area from Watertown), and the band they formed had considerable success playing throughtout the north country. The band in later years continued on with many of the same players and even recorded some original music that had some local success and radio play. Bruce moved to Malone in 2005, where he hooked up with guitar player Kevin Glennon, Kevin, a very accomplished musician and guitar instructor, says his love of music started at 4 yrs old, when his older brother would let him come to his band’s practice, Kevin studied guitar and music therory for 4 yrs, and keyboard for 1 yr, at the Jeremy Drake School of Music in Malone, NY. “I have played in several tyypes of bands” Glennon said, ” but ,Three Peace Suit is the most awesome and busiest time in my career”.
In 2009, Bruce and Kevin contacted Joe Sweet, who has most recently worked as a guitar and keyboardist, but had been looking for a new instrument to enjoy, and offered him a position as the bass guitar player and lead singer for the new band. Joe graciously accepted this challenge and the band, Three Peace Suit was born. Joe said, “Ever since I was a young boy I have been encouraged to try different instruments and took advantage of that. My fathter played in bands for as long as I remembered and played several instruments and that is what inspired me to try anything I could get my hands on”. So, the band “Three Peace Suit” was born out of passion, fun and the fact that “We just are not ready to give it up”!! “We all have been blessed with the opportunity to play music for the past many many, and we truly have fun doing it. So, we wanted to find a way to give a little something back to one of the communities that hepled us get our start”. (Oh so many decades ago!)
“The Tupper Lake Recreation and Youth Program just seemed to be the perfect way to help the kids get some supplies for thesummer activitites in the way the older generation gave to us” Sweet said. Bruce stated that after all these years of playing music, he has never found anything to be more satisfying than sitting behind his drum set on a stage with his buddies and getting to watch and listen to the crowd connect with the music they are playing! It’s a HIGH that you’d never forget, and one that you are always looking forward to!!
