Chamber of Commerce adds Committees, Welcomes New Board Member

TL Chamber of Commerce adds Committees, Welcomes New Board MemberThe Tupper Lake Chamber of Commerce Monday reorganized its committee structure and approved the addition of a new board member at its regular monthly meeting.

In an effort to support existing businesses and help improve the Tupper Lake economy, the Board of Directors set up six committees to assist Executive Director Marti Mozdzier.

“Marti does an outstanding job promoting Tupper Lake, serving the membership and running the Chamber of Commerce,” said Board President Bob Pioli, “but she should not be asked to do it alone. There is too much work to be done at this critical moment in our town’s history. The Board will now be working in tandem with Marti to spread out the responsibilities of the Chamber so we can do more for our community and better serve our membership.”

The Executive Committee consists of Pioli; Dianna Foley, vice president; Sandra Strader, treasurer; Rick Wilburn, secretary; and Mozdzier. The Board also appointed members to the following committees on Monday: Finance Committee, Membership Committee, Marketing & Promotions Committee, Events Committee, New Initiatives Committee, and Nominating Committee (for new board members). The Board of Directors consists of the above-mentioned officers and Gordie Duval, Maggie Ernenwein, Andy Flynn, Sally Gross, Nancy Howard, Susi Ritzenberg, Doug Wright and new board member David Tomberlin, owner/operator of The Well Dressed Food Company at 95 Park St. in Tupper Lake.

“I commend the Board for prioritizing this action and for their personal commitment to take on this essential work,” Mozdzier said. “Active committees equip the Chamber to accomplish a broad range of objectives, harnessing the energies and abilities of our community. Committee membership is not restricted to Board involvement and gives volunteers ownership of Chamber and community initiatives.”

The next regular Chamber of Commerce Board meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7 at the main office. Members and the public are welcome to attend.
